Simple Minds

It seems every other generation had its defining symbol...the generation that came of age in the 40s had a world war...the 50s had the bomb and birth of rock n roll...the 60s had revolutionary changes that smacked our society upside the head.

But those of us who came of age in the 80s have music videos.

That's about it.

It's very dreary and comical to reflect on that and watch those images again. While others have the images of Pearl Harbor, the bomb, and Dallas seared into their memories...we'll never forget where we were when we first saw those crazy buzz-cut Brits and heard those enduring words: "Our house...in the middle of our street..."

I disagree. I find 80's videos to be quite good.

Of course, I am not a fan of music at all today. Video or not. So maybe that tells you something in itself.

Kenn -- you'd probably change your mind if you'd seen the selection I've witnessed over the past couple of weeks. Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam (sans Full Force), Corey Hart, Rick Springfield (whose music is actually a guilty pleasure of mine, but the videos...hoo boy), Elton John's wretched "I'm Still Standing"...bad, just bad.

Molly Ringwald

I am still in love with my 80's music, why else would I still have hundreds of cassettes lying around the house? I can't bear to throw them away. I can't do my signature dance to today's music.....

Sadly, I like that Elton video. Yup, I'm straight too!

Ummm ... and the Lisa Lisa ones, except for that one, I dunno which, but it is bad.

Full Force is cool.

And who doesn't like the Sunglasses at Night video?!
